Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Samuel Monteiro Pinho, who operates Plume (“Plume,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They govern your access to and use of the Plume website at plume-tcf.com and the services it provides (the “Services”). By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. What Plume is

Plume is an online tool that gives AI-generated practice feedback on responses to the TCF Canada Expression écrite (French writing exam) — including an estimated score, an estimated CLB level, and line-by-line corrections.

2. Important disclaimer — practice only

Plume is a practice and study aid. It is not the official TCF exam, and Plume is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to France Éducation international (FEI), Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), or any official testing or immigration body. Scores, CLB levels, and corrections are estimates generated by artificial intelligence. They may be inaccurate or incomplete, will not necessarily match your result on the real exam, and are not a guarantee of any exam outcome, immigration result, or other decision. Nothing Plume provides is legal, immigration, or professional advice. Always rely on official sources and qualified professionals for decisions that matter.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Services. By using Plume you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.

4. Your account

You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email address. You are responsible for keeping access to that email secure and for activity that occurs under your account. Each account is for a single person; please don’t share it. New accounts include one free evaluation.

5. Credits, payment & refunds

Evaluations are paid for with prepaid credits. Credit packs are one-time purchases — there is no subscription and you are never charged automatically. Prices are shown in Canadian dollars (CAD) and payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe; the amount you pay is the amount shown at checkout. One credit pays for one evaluation, and credits never expire. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Services for anything unlawful, or submit content you don’t have the right to submit;
  • attempt to disrupt, overload, probe, or gain unauthorized access to the Services or their infrastructure;
  • scrape, copy, resell, or redistribute the Services or their output except for your own personal exam preparation;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the underlying models or prompts;
  • create multiple accounts to abuse the free evaluation or any promotion; or
  • use the Services to build or train a competing product.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of the writing you submit for evaluation (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited licence to store and process Your Content solely to provide the Services to you — for example, to generate feedback and to show you your history and progress. We do not publish Your Content or sell it. How we handle personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Our intellectual property

The Services — including the software, design, text, prompts, sample answers, and the Plume name and logo — are owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Services for your own exam preparation, subject to these Terms.

9. Availability & changes

We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time, and we don’t guarantee that the Services will always be available or error-free. We may also update these Terms; when we make material changes we’ll update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, let you know. Continuing to use the Services after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

10. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The Services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on any estimate, score, or feedback the Services provide. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Services will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the claim or CAD $50. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

11. Termination

You can stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or misuse the Services. Purchased credits are handled according to our Refund Policy.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the courts located in British Columbia will have jurisdiction over any dispute relating to these Terms or the Services.
